The Associated Press is now reporting that 40 year old designer Alexander McQueen has commited suicide in his London home. Famously know for his over the top fashions and creating one of kind garments for Lady Gaga and Rihanna the fashion world mourns this loss.

Our hearts go out to his family and they will be in our prayers.

Pallettes Anyone???

So in my attempt to have more efficient way to store my makeup and stop spilling pigments all over my office I have decided to have as much makeup as possible in pallette form. Of course this will be a work in progress simply because pressing pigments is quite a job especially when you have so many that need to be pressed, that is why I am glad I have sites like Coastal Scents to help in this long overdue process. They sell everything needed to make this process as easy as possible, including handy how-to videos. So I will be making an updated makeup collection very soon and expect to see tons of pallettes and more organized items. The only thing I had to think twice about putting in a pallette was my lipsticks because it requires me to melt them down first and then pour into the pans for a pallette, I was a bit worried about the consistency but so far so good. So I will be sure to keep you updated with my progress but I am sure of one thing having 80% of my items in pallette form will definitly make things so much easier.

Sephora....Makeup Rewards?

So this blog is dedicated to Sephora and there 'Rewards' program or lack of. I can't belive that in this age of professional discounts that Sephora is the last of major stores to follow suit. I guess what prompted me to write this is my new Back Stage card that I just received from Makeup For Ever which entitles me to a 40% professional discount but here's the catch it can only be used at the Makeup Forever boutique or by ordering over the phone. This becomes an issue to me because I live within a mile of a Sephora store in which I cannot use my card...I just find it to be utter BS!! Come on Sephora get with the times and start honoring some of the professional discounts these companies give out. I know for one thing I am going to start purchasing my cosmetic needs from other companies and cosmetic boutiques that are willing to give out actual discounts as opposed to 1oz samples. So there you have it my rant for the day and if you feel the same please leave a comment and express how you feel.

Product Alert! MAC's Spring Color Forcast

Yet another must have collection from MAC cosmetics! These collections feature colors from four different groups Pink's, Coral, Plum's, and Amber. The Amber collection to me is just blah....a few neutrals that I can really do without, but I will say that the quads in the pink and plum collection is a must have. For those die hard MAC fans this is something to add to your makeup collection but for the pros I say save your money. You know there are only 1 or 2 shades that will actually make it to your kit and MAC will surly discontinue them before you know it. Boooooooooo!!! Then again I'm still pissed that they won't bring back Studio Mist Foundation. Now will I get a quad or two for personal use yes I will but will it make my pro kit, not really. This past friday Michelle Williams lit The Empire State Building red in honor of the Go Red For Women events taking place across the country and look absolutly beautiful doing so. Ms Williams took the big apple by storm with her spiky short cut and fierce makeup. Honestly this is the best I've seen her look in ages, I love everything about this look from top to bottom. After much anticipation 2010 finally brings us Kim Kardashian the Frangrance, and baby let me tell you it does not disappoint. First off everything about this scent is S..E..X..Y to the 10th degree, from the ad, featuring Kim herself, to the actual fragrance. Although while on my shopping trip at Sephora I did hear that many thought the fragrance was a copy of Poision by DIOR and I must say I don't think so. I remember DIOR's Poision that was my scent back in the day with my tight booty jeans and heels (=irresistable) and I really don't see the simalarity at all. It is now one of my top scents and is as sexy as the creator herself but DIOR it is not this is a fragrance that stands on it's own. Juice Beauty Cleansing Gel

So this product is one of my January Favorites for 2010 and I have been using it faithfully for the past 3 months. I have to say that for a few years now I have been a die hard Neutrogena fan and have even recommended there products to friends and clients alike. Now things have changed Juice Beauty is now my TOP face cleanser, this stuff is organic and amazing. So lets go over the pros, it is so very deep cleansing and gets out all the dirt and grim on my face especially after a long day of running around and working. My skin feels silky and squeaky clean but with every pro there is a con. The con's of this product is this, I would not use this unless I had very oily skin, NOT combination skin but oily skin because it really does take out all that excess oil so if you have any dry patches it will really dry you out. The smell is not that appealing so that is another thing that you have to get use to but other than those two things this is an oily girl's dream. My 6oz bottle has lasted me 3 months (twice a day use) as you only need 1 pump per use. My acne is getting under control and I just may expand and try other products from Juice Beauty. So this definitly gets a thumbs up!

Not many shadows really catch my eye but every now and again there is that one that makes you really stand up and take notice. If you haven't heard of Coastal Scents then now is the time to find out. There products afre really making a buzz on the professional scene with makeup artist and everyday women alike. I must say that the one standout product is there eye shadow, Swiss Chocolate to be exact. It's a dead ringer for the more expensive MAC brand and has more pigment to boot. A rich luster, deep chocolate color and pearly sheen makes this a universal shade that flatters every skin tone. This shade is definitly one that I keep in my kit as a go to color for bridal and special events. Product Review: Carols Daughter Sexy Belly

So I know I haven't put up many bath and body product reviews because for a while nothing has really caught my attention.......that is until I tried Sexy Belly from Carol's Daughter. First off I am surprised that I was even able to score this magic in a jar because it is usually sold out EVERYWHERE! What is Sexy Belly? This 100% natural product reminds me of a very luxurious body butter, it is vitamin rich has shea and cocoa butter which improves skins elasticity. The scent is light not overpowering, I even wear my usual perfumes and body sprays with no interferance of the product. It's recommended for sensitive skin and for mommies to be to prevent and lighten strech marks. I think the product is a winner and especially with all this snow and harsh winter weather. So there you have it Carol's Daughter Sexy Belly $17.00 for an 8oz jar but this product tends to sell out quickly so be sure to buy more than one at a time. Until next time Be Beautiful

Product Review: Temptu Airbrushing System

There has been so much talk about this new Temptu system, I just had to get the product myself and try it out. So here is my official take on the system..........And before you read this please keep in mind that I do use Temptu and have many of there products in my kit.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! The only good thing I could find in this system is that they actually made a system affordable for women to use at home. My issues are this there were too many steps just to get started, the noise level is off the charts for such a small system. Now as a professional I have used many compressors that have there fair share of noise but this was just tooo much. Now my biggest no no with the Temptu system is the selection of foundations and not being able to mix and get the correct color for my skintone. Usually with airbrushing you can add drops of different foundations and mix to get your exact shade but that is not the case with this. So I went through the one pod is too light then the next pod is too dark...........and layering the foundations is not an option either, I took this back to the store so quickly.

Just know that I do love the Temptu products and I just think that they should refine the total package. Make that compressor quiet, get a few more shades in the line since you can't mix them like other products and add an air pod in with the original package.

So pair all of this along with the pricing and I will pass besides I am still keeping my fingers crossed that MAC will bring back Studio Mist foundation. For now if I need airbrushing I will be mixing my drops or purchasing Dior Airbrush foundation. Until next time Be Beautiful everyone!

Grammy Glam!!!!

So what kind of beauty blogger would I be if I didn't give my thoughts on the looks that hit this year's Grammy's. All the biggest and brightest stars in music were there and although I would love to give my thoughts on everyone's fashion hits and misses I'm going to have to keep it to my standouts............

Oh Mrs. Carter(wearing Stephane Rolland)...I've seen Bey in much better looks than this one. To me it was a bit boring like we had seen her in this, and the two tone hair....I'll pass. But as usual the makeup is FLAWLESS and it is Beyonce so she gets a pass this time...... and only this time!!!

For me Pink was the standout of the night, I'm not sure who her dress was by the it looked absolutely FABULOUS on the red carpet! Loved the color and the structure of the dress, simple elegant makeup and her fab cut to top it off. Also her performance in my opinion was the standout of the night...let's be ready for others to fall in line and copy this high flying number. Hey she gets an A+ from me because she was able to do it in those stunning shoes......by the way if anyone knows the designer please let me know!!!!

Rihanna in Eli Saab...hands down she KILLED it from the makeup to the hair and dress. She is really on the couture scene hard and I loves it. I think her makeup look may just have to be my 1st video of the new year. Although I do wish she had performed....I can just imagine that outfit

Lady Gaga in Armani Prive'.......Oh what the hell did you expect! I am such a Gaga fan she can do no wrong in my eyes. This was who I waited for all night and she did NOT disappoint!!

I thought I would share one of my newest favs when it comes to cosmetics and what's in my kit. About a year ago I discovered Fyrinnae (Fyeer-ih-nay) Cosmetics and I have been hooked ever since. First lets start with the 193 amazing eyeshadow colors and add to the mix a wide variety of intensely pigmented Lip Luster, City Glam glitters and so much more.

They are NOT a mineral makeup company but all of there cosmetics are vegan which makes them an excellent product to use on even the most sensitive of skin. The price points are great $5.25 for a full size loose eyeshadow and $9.00 for Ink Liner is just an example....

Concealer NO NO!!!

So by now I'm quite sure that you have all seen the pics of Taraji Henson's makeup disaster!! Well I'm going to tell you how to aviod this very common mistake, of the extra light raccoon eye, because honestly this could happen to anyone unfortunatly it happened to Taraji....

As you can see from the photos below that Taraji's makeup is a classic smokey look perfect for the red carpet if it wasn't for the extra light circles under her eyes..... Many times an MUA will add an extra layer of translucent powder under the eye to 'catch' any falling eyeshadow so not to stain the skin then you will have a whole other set of problems. There are 2 ways to fix this problem, first continue with your usual foundation first and powder to 'catch' falling shadow but make sure you brush away all powder and even follow up with a small bit of bronzer under the eye so it looks more even like the rest of the skintone. Or you can apply a light layer of concealer, do the eye makeup wipe away any excess shadow that may have fallen during application and THEN apply your foundation and blend. This is a surefire way to make sure that your application is flawless. And remember when all else fails pull out YOUR camera and take a pic with the flash on to check for mishaps just like this one, those flashing lights will get you every time......

The Art of Layering: Eyeshadow Bases 101

So many of you have asked me about my latest obsession with eyeshadow bases that I thought I would write a little something to address this. Lately I have found that layering my shadow has been the best thing not only for color payoff but also for blending purposes also. I do a 2 step base before I actually apply my lid & crease color, because as many of you know most eyeshadow primers are sticky and makes the shadow hard to blend. I've found a way to fight this by adding cream shadow before my actual shadow, it's makes it 10 times easier to blend and brings out the color of the shadow depending on what color base you use. This is so you can compare the two applications next to each other, the bottom with the cream shadow added has a bit more sheen to it while keeping its original color.

This is the same navy blue shadow with three different applications, the first (on your left) is just plain shadow applied with a brush, the second (center) is shadow base first then the shadow, last (on your right) is shadow base, then cream base in Totally Turquoise, and finally the navy shadow.
As you can see with the finished product there is a bit of a sheen and the colors blend beautifully

My final thoughts are that from now on when I need that little bit extra from my shadows I will definitely be using my 3 steps to a beautiful eye....Until next time B Beautiful!!

Hello lovlies!!!

So for this look of the day I really wanted to have something that was full of shimmer and drama at the same time. I decided to use MAC's Fashion Patch mineral eyeshadow quad (the pink and black) because many times we buy these products and just forget about them because something new comes out. I also used Mehron's E.Y.E cream in slate grey and Black as a base along with my usual eye primer to really make the color pop!! This isn't usually my smokey eye but I do love the way the colors just blend together. I skipped the lashes and used two coats of NYX Doll Eye Mascara and a shimmering pink lipstick to finish the look.

This was a look that I did last week to run errands and get some things done while I was in New York. So I just had to represent....most of the products used were from NYX Cosmetics and I am just loving them right about now!!!

One the eyes, I used NYX Ultimate Pearl Eyeshadows in Blue Pearl on the lid, Baby Blue Pearl in the inner corners of the eye, and MAC's Carbon on the crease, and White Pearl as a highlight. Of course Urban Decay primer potion all over as a base, NYX eyeliner in black, and finally NYX Doll Eye Mascara in Volume Black to finish off the eye. On my face I have switched to my winter routine when it comes to foundation, so MAC's mineralized skinfinish in NC50, and MAC's Studio Fix as a powder also in NC50. In My Kit: Mehron E.Y.E Cream

Hello all I know I have been off the scene getting my laptop in order but I'm back with plenty of product reviews and videos!! So lately on of the things that has been filling up my Pro Kit is Mehron E.Y.E creams!! Yes I am so in love with these creams that I have about 5 colors and I'm ordering even more...so here are my pros and cons of the products but I definitely recommend trying one in brown or black to start and then get into more colors.

One of the things that I love about this product is the smooth creamy texture and rich vibrant color that it gives you as a base for your traditional shadow. The down side to this is that if you have oily skin (like me) it will crease on you and in hot weather slide off your eye :(. One way to fight this is by using an eyeshadow base first and then using the cream and then using your powder shadow, but for normal and dry skin this is a winner. The black and brown bases are a must have for my bridal kit, for photoshoots I play a lot with the other colors mixing and matching. Overall I would wear them alone or under another shadow, currently my faves are the slate grey under a pink shadow, or the black under an aqua blue shimmer shadow. But no need to worry I will have plenty of pics and videos up demonstrating some of my new fav creams.

Push the Edge Tutorial

I went shopping this week and was so very drawn to the Push the Edge pigment in the new MAC collection I just had to have it. I decided to go with a slightly smokey look that to me can be worn day or evening. Be sure to have your small fan brush to sweep away fallout and a large fan brush for blush. Also a blender brush for blending colors in the crease

MAC's Push the Edge pigment, Coastal Scents gel eyeliner in black, NYX Doll Eye mascara, Sephora's eyeliner in black, small blender brush, angled liner brush, and large fluffy brush for highlight.

And here is the final look, I so love purple!! Oh and NYX Chestnut gloss was used, it is a fab neutral gloss for my skintone.

MAC Cosmetics Update: Mixing Medium Face & Body

In my most recent trip to the MAC Pro store I just found out that the Face & Body mixing medium is on hold due to packaging problems. So who knows when this MAC favorite will be hitting pro stores again. Now lets be clear it has NOT been discontinued but it has been put on hold until the new packaging is given the ok then it will be back on shelves. Kit Questions......How many diffrent kits should I have?

So as a full time makeup artist I get a ton of questions concerning my kit and if I have different kits for different jobs. Honestly until now I only had one large kit and I would just take things out and add other things according to what I needed. Now that I am working so much more now and have so many different jobs to do I have started to separate my items, like right now by 2010 Bridal Season I will have an entire kit dedicated just to Bridal so tons of neutral colors, lashes, and tons of blush and lipsticks. Then my secondary kit will be for photo shoots and television, I usually use the same items for both so they can easily be combined, and the last kit that I will have is my airbrush kit, there are quite a few things that you need to achieve really great airbrush makeup.

Once I go through and get all my different items that are needed for each kit I will have several update videos and go through the foundations. I estimate that each kit will have about 2 different foundations to choose from simply because of skin types (dry to oily) and the rest of the items. But please keep in mind that when you split up your kits you may have to purchase multiple items at a time so it can get a little expensive so before you go through all this please be sure that you really need this. Once my kits are separated I will be sure to film the new kits and show you all. Remember a great makeup artist is a great artist with or without several different kits. As always B Beautiful....

My new obsession.....Ben Nye Foundation Pallette

So for the past week I have really been restocking my kit with some old favs and new favs......Now in the midst of all this I have just found this new love for Ben Nye cosmetics especially for photoshoots. There matte cream foundation is quickly becoming my go to foundations for normal to oily skin and now even Ben Nye is hopping on the palette bandwagon. So lets see high quality at a great price ($49.95), excellent pigmentation in there products what more could you ask for! Especially since I am going through a lot of kit changes...this slim well designed palette allows me to bring 10 foundation colors on every set. This particular foundation offers such even coverage I have covered tattoos, and even used it as a concealer. So this gets a thumbs up from me and I look forward to adding even more Ben Nye products to my kit!!

Hey guys I know that this post is going tobe a bit diffrent from the rest as this is all about one word......Perseverance. In this business you have to have it, I started out 7 years ago as a part time makeup artist doing mainly bridal and special events. It wasn't until 2 years ago that I have decided to take my business to a whole other level and go full time. I say this to say that it too me 7 years to get where I wanted to be in the beauty industry and finally say that everyday when I wake up I do EXACTLY what I want to do.
If it wasn't for passion and perseverance I have no clue how I would have made it through. You have to have it, especially in this business because there are so many roadblocks that you can come in contact with that will test you and honestly make you want to quit. Believe me there were plenty of times when I heard the word NO I just wanted to give up and throw in the towel but it was my passion and Perseverance that kept me going. IN MY KIT Vol. 3

For most MUA's this is a very familar bottle... yes it is the one and only Face & Body Mixing Medium. This multi-purpose product can be used for just about anything when on set which makes it a must have and sold out product. A few ways I use this product is with concealer or foundation to thin it out and provide more coverage. I also mix this with loose mineral powders to make a more intense color for the eye or eyeliner and it comes out beautifully.
Well worth the money and a must have!!! If there was any one product that you must have in your kit as a makeup artist this is it but be sure to keep in mind that this is a MAC Pro product and you have to have a Pro card.

As most of you may or may not know I have been trying to put off the inevitable.....having to replace my MAC Studio Mist foundation. Believe me beauties I have written MAC several times with my own little campaign to bring back this amazing foundation. Believe me this foundation will be missed but as my can goes dry I have no other choice but to replace it. So now begins my journey to replace THE BEST foundation in MAC history......DAMN YOU MAC!!!! I will most likely have to replace this one go to foundation with 2 different brands simply to fit the needs of my very different customers. So let the search begin.........

For the second time Ciara has made my Makeup Fab!!! This time Ms Cici is rocking fab smokey eye makeup and a stunning short cut. It looks like cutting and shaving your hair is all the rage and after viewing this pic I am very happy that she did not go with the shaving portion. Kudos Cici for updating your look and keeping it fab and fresh, this even reminds me that I have yet to do a smokey eye tutorial so I just may have to show you guys how I do my smokey eye.

**This look includes of course black eyeshadow with what looks like a brown in the crease so it doesn't come off too harse, sheer highlight, pinky blush and a sparkling pink lipstick.

So this may not come as a surprise to many of you but believe it or not washing your face twice a day with the proper face cleanser can clear up 80% of skin problems. Just remember that not all products are made equal it make take you a few tries to find the right face wash for your skin but don't give up hoep it's out there. Also when washing your face be sure to throughly rinse off any cleanser with luke warm water to ensure then is no residue left that may clog your pores. Until next time B Beautiful

Ok so I don't know what took me so long in posting this entry because even if you are not a pro makeup artist it is still one of the most important things you could possible do for your makeup brushes. As we all know even the cheapest brushes can be a breeding ground for bacteria which makes cleaning your brushes so important. Some people make there own brush cleanser of they purchase products like Sephora's Brush Shampoo or Parian Spirit....well whatever you do make sure you do it properly. For personal use I highly recommend Parian Spirit as an everyday brush cleanser it fights bacteria, conditions brushes and is fast drying so I give it a thumbs up. But just to be on the safe side of things I also use Sephora's brush shampoo once a week just to give ALL my brushes a through cleaning, better safe than sorry in my book. Lay brushes flat to dry and you're all set, and remember taking 15-20 minutes out of your day to make sure you have clean brushes is well worth avoiding any skin mishaps...Until next time B Beautiful

For anyone who has visited my official website you have seen this young ladies beautiful face gracing my portfolio several times. This time it's a photoshoot with Woah San Photography in Philadelphia. First off I wanted to give Mel color, color and more color so I choose beautiful corals and pinks and plums to complete this look. One of the things that I did differently was I used Bobbi Brown liquid foundation and I must say even with a $45 price tag it is a beautiful foundation and perfect for my clients for everyday or bridal. Very smooth full coverage and lets not forget that Bobbi Brown is one of the originators of foundations with yellow undertones for women of color, very excited to see the final images from the shoot. In this post I just want to let everyone know how things are going with my personal challenge of 365 days of blogging. I have been diligent in having posts to put up everyday that are beauty and skincare related. As I stated in my first Tidbits video this is going to show you everything in my journey in building my business. I was in Sephora not to long ago with my never ending search for the perfect face wash I was drawn to Juice Beauty an organic line of skincare. There skin cleanser is a lathering, therapeutic cleanser to thoroughly purify and balance oily, combination, or blemished skin, and since I have very oily skin I thought it would be perfect. So after a week of use I am ready to give up my Neutrogena face wash, even though this product has pros and cons of it's own. The smell is not the most appealing especially in the morning and for those with combination skin it can actually be over drying but since I have VERY oily skin this is not the case for me. But what really won me over was it's organic contents left my skin with a healthy glow, pair with MUFE All Mat and light powder gives me a flawless finish. Here is another edition of Makeup Fab with Ms. Beyonce herself. Recently Beyonce hit up her Show Your Helping Hand Campaign Press conference at the United Center in Chicago yesterday looking extra fab and her makeup was so flawless. I guess the sheer no makeup makeup look is really going around these days, for those of you who watch my YouTube Channel have recently seen the pic of Whitney Huston's official album cover and she is rocking a very similar look.

My guess is that Bey has a brown smokey eye, rose cheeks, and a Carmel glossy lip and definitely MINK lashes. For those of you who have not read up on mink lashes please do so as celebs like Bey have been wearing these lashes on the red carpet for years and not they are available in many spas and eyelash studios around the country. This past Wednesday I had the pleasure of having a photo shoot with Nija Michelle Photography. So I haven't posted any pics of myself when I'm on an actual shoot so I hope you all enjoy the photos and I will be posting a video of more pics shortly!!

I choose a slightly smokey neutral eye
Have to get those highlights when working with photography lighting because it is sooooo very different from point and shoot digital cameras it is important to use just a little more product than what you would usually use. Don't pack it on but just slightly more than usual...here I spent a little more time with highlight just because of the theme of the shoot and the emphasis was really on her lips and skin.....

One of the finished photos as you can see Didi has the sexy eyes going on as well as the pouty mouth. I decided to go with a pink lipstick and gloss from NYX it was my first time using NYX at a shoot and I am very impressed with the color payoff and the staying power. I had to do very little touch ups and it gave exactly the color I was looking for! So hooray for NYX!!!

WTF!!!!! Kit Mishaps & How to prevent them

So low and behold when I open my kit today what do I find.....one of my favorite mineral shadows has spilled in my kit. So after much cursing and scraping (yes I salvaged what I could) I found that the cap most likely wasn't screwed on tight enough causing it to open from all the hustle and bustle of me carring it around.

Needless to say it was a large mess to clean up being as though I had use my trusty Parian Spirit to clean up the mess and make everyhting all nice and sanitary. So let this be a lesson to us all make sure all containers are closed tightly and perhaps for mineral eyeshadows and products carrying them in there own zip lock bag may prevent a larger mess and also pressing them into palette form. I have not yet pressed any of my pigments but this is definitly an option that I am going to look into.

So what have we learned............

Make sure containers are close tightly

Look into pressing all loose pigments

KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN!!!

LipStick Organization!!!

Yeah!!!!! My first step to organization begins with my lipsticks, so I was at Walmart a few days ago and I decided to take a look at there craft section. What do I find the 24 bin case that is really for beads but I saw it as a chance to stop carring around this load of lipsticks that I have in my kit. The case was $6.79 and well worth every penny so much so that I am going to purchase about 3 more so I can do the rest of my lipsticks and hvae empites for all the lip glaze that I am makeing at home.
I decided to crush my lipsticks into each bin and just noted the name on top (didn't have any stickers) it's very lightweight and easy to carry. If you only need 1 or 2 lipsticks then just take the little pot out and put it in your case. I am actually going to see how they stand up with a liquid in the pot and you never know my dream of having all palettes in my kit just might come true sooner than I thought!!!!

Mini Lipgloss Drama

I don't know about the rest of the MUA's out there but this wedding season I find myself with a bit of a problem this wedding season. Most recently I have increased my pricing just a tad to not only cover the rising cost of living but also so I can provide a little gift to all my brides and the bridal party also. So here is my problem not enough companies put out reasonably priced lip glosses and the ones that do put out mini's seem to always have them in a set and I may only need one or two shades out of that particular set. So what's a MUA to do.....take the bull by the horns and make my own lip glosses and glazes. I mean why not it would allow me to give my clients a gift without breaking the bank not to mention I would be the deciding factor on what goes in my own product. This is the first of many new posts this ia called In My Kit and it's a review of all the new products that I have recently purchased and will be purchasing in the future for my kit. The first product that I'm going to review is Make Up Forever All Mat primer and I must say that I am soooo extremely in love with this product.

I am located on the east coast so finding an awesome oil free foundation primer is a must. It works amazingly in humid weather and stands the test of time during photoshoots and weddings. It goes on with a powderlike consistency, gives a matte look without looking overly dry and minimizes pores. Very sheer so it works on everyones skin tone. I give this product an A+ but this is no surprise being as though it is from Makeup Forever and everything from there new line is simply amazing and I cannot wait to see whats next!

OK so this is just my little blog today and I think I'm just going to vent. With any business there are times where you feel under appreciated........
Right now I am just not really feeling the love, as a full time makeup artist I do this for two reasons.....one for the love of makeup and art and two to make a living at this. I mean duh I do this full time I am not a part time MUA I don't have another job this is it. But for the life of me there will always be those people who really get under my skin with there thinking that I am suppose to just give away my talent! Like I don't want to sound bitchy but I'm sure that there will be enough of you out there who think that this is bitchy so oh well!
Models really need to understand that there is a lot that goes into the makings of a great photograph, like there are any out there who just pic up a camera and call themselves photographers but there are very few that can produce a stunning photograph. There's hair, wardrobe, makeup, props, electric and sooo much more so why would you ever think that any of this would be free!! I would just really like for people to understand that I do this for love and money, as a full timer I am not going to undercut myself just because some wannabe diva thinks she should get my services for free. I believe that my work speaks for itself and I am well worth the money....

So that is my little vent for the day.....

Makeup Fab!!!! The BET Awards 2009

With so many absolutely beautiful faces walking the red carpet of the BET Music Awards it was really hard to choose just a few women who really put there best face forward!!

Here are a few standouts!! Notice that even though it is an awards show we don't see a lot of the smokey eye going on and we see quite a few who skipped the dramatic evening look for a much prettier natural glow on the red carpet.

So there have been some pretty hot days here on the east coast, so I have decided to share some of my makeup tips for the summer.
Generally I tend to pair down my full face of makeup for something a bit more sheer and natural. So no liquid foundation while it's humid simply because I have very oily skin and you can imagine how I look after a hot humid day. So I just use a powder and mascara for those hot days.

Goldish Green Look!!!

So this is just me playing around today with a lil bit of color and came up with this goldish green look to really highlight my brown eyes. I used a lil bit coastal scents and MAC to complete this look so let me know what you think!!!

I skipped the false lashes because this is a day look for me.

I absolutely love the way the green brings out brown eyes!! So all you brown eyed girls take note and try some green shadow!

For the Summer 2009 issue of Rap Up Magazine Ciara is gracing the cover looking oh so fab!! Most recently Cici has been rocking some fierce looks but this one has to be my fav. Notice the bronze glow and light pink lips. The sultry eyes with all the extra smokey black, a perfect nighttime look for summer.

Again can I just emphasize how much I love when women of color take a chance with brights like bright lipstick and eyeshadow... Bravo Cici looking fab per usual!

Bridal Tips!!!

Ok MUA's another wedding season is upon us and I just thought I would give out some great tips on bridal makeup and client care. Anyone who is very serious about there business has a serious bridal clientele when Spring and Summer rolls around and if you don't then now is the time to get serious.

Brides can be some of the most difficult clients to deal with BUT weddings are also the most extrodinary special day in a woman's life so consider yourself lucky to be apart of it.

*First off customer service is key, always make sure to call your clients promtly and answer each and every question full and clearly. Many times you will be booked months in advance so you may have to deal with the wedding planner, bridemaids etc. so having excellent customer service skills will help you along very much.

*Be sure to have your rates of service laid out and ready to give to a potential client. This is important because you want to be knowledgeable about YOUR business and not scramble for pricing when asked. Perhaps a brochure would be in order, sites like Vista Print have all these things and more for reasonable rates. Think of how professional you will be handing over a brochure and business card. A surefire way to book that client!!

*Make sure your kit is well stocked and ready, this means that maybe you have to create another kit just for your bridal business. When your clients are paying hundreds of dollars to look flawless on your special day I think another kit is in order. This may consist of airbrush makeup and perhaps a higher end cosmetic like MUFE HD foundation so the skin looks flawless in photos. As always make sure you have plenty of disposables, clean brushes and sponges etc. And always have a neutral pallette at your disposal, you will find that this pallette will become your best friend during bridal season!

*Consultation is key!!! Every bride wants to have a perfect wedding day so makeing sure every detail is taken care of is key to a successful service. Make sure you schedule the consultation at least 2 weeks prior to the actual wedding date and offer to coordinate with the hairstylist (if any) so the look is as complete as possible. Be sure to note all products used and create a face chart if you can, this will ensure that the look is exactly as you planned.

*Invest in a good invoicing system, even if you make up an invoice yourself you always want to put your professional foot forward when dealing with brides. Invoicing and followup is key, you may have 3 to 4 weddings booked per weekend during prime wedding season so having good organized paperwork will help you in your business. Try making up folders for each of your brides and put all paperwork pertaining to them in there this is a great help to me, even include any receipts for any expenses and of course your contract. NEVER take a client without having your contract ready.

*Make sure you dress the part!!! This is very important, in this business your looks are key, you are hired to make others look good so it's so very important that you look good yourself. Make sure you don't use too much perfume and as silly as it may seem make sure to brush your teeth!! You are face to face with an entire bridal party. Remember the photographer may even be there taking preparation photos so you always want to look your best.

So not that you have my few tips for surviving Bridal Season, get out there and promote yourself!!! You can't do weddings if noone knows you! Make it a point to frequent networking parties and talk yourself up, you'd be surprise how many people may need your services not only for bridal but for other special occassions!! So as you know your girl Bi(Bee) has been working her tail off to bring you the very best in hair and makeup.

So first* currently I have been working with some of the most talented photographers here in Philly building up my portfolio and not to mention my client base. So all those looking to build up there port or just looking for photos just for themselves be sure to hit me up.

Second* the Just B Brush line is on it's way! I have chosen the style and also a set of basic brushes that every woman needs in her makeup bag/kit. They are stylish, sleek and oh so affordable. Not only that they are fully customize so you will never have to wonder if someone is taking your brush.....stay tuned that first brush will hit this blog first!!

Third* not only is my new brush line hitting the net in a week but I have also decided to branch out into the makeup game myself. As a makeup artist you know it is oh so hard finding that right shade or the perfect fit in your kit, but it goes beyond that. I want an affordable line that my private clients can enjoy also not just makeup artist. So first I am just starting with the lips and build up from there. It may seem strange that my newest lip product will be a limited edition gloss but it's still a must have!!

**Lastly my laptop crashed so I am working off of this old desktop so I am hoping that I will have everything back up and running next week so stay tuned for another video!!

I think the thing that stands out the most for me is that she is really showing off all the luciousness of her lips. Victoria's Secret Bras Bad for your health?

Say it ain't so!!!!!! While on the net this morning I came across an ABC News report on Victoria's Secret bras giving women allergic reactions and now there could be a class action lawsuit to go along with it. Check out the video for the full story but reports are stating that the some of there most popular bras are testing positive for formaldehyde (frowns face), yes the same solution used in embalming! I saw this and snatched off my bra with the quickness..........

So I know it's not just me thinking this but if formaldehyde has been found in the bra.....what will they find in the panties?? As this story grows I can only imagine the public relations nightmare that is about to go down, but couldn't all this be avoided if we not only 'Buy American' but also 'Make in America'. Yeah that made in China of US Components tag is not sitting well with a lot of women now.

There is OFFICIALY no excuses for anyone out there to go out without just a hint of shimmer on there lips. I am an avid promoter of lipgloss and mascara before you walk out the door, and now Chapstick has made it even easier.

Ok so it's no surprise that once you are elected President your entire family will also be in the spotlight, but in all my years (which is not that many) I have not seen this much hype over a first family since.........well I wasn't even born then but from what I heard since the Kennedy's. Many bloggers, television shows, and newspapers are reporting that Michelle Obama is the most fashionable first lady since Jackie O. Michelle has a fresh clean look that women everywhere are now trying to achieve. I just can't wait to see what the next four years will bring, whatever it I know it will be fabulous!!!
